Game Over!

The thought of a fire, absolutely terrifies me. I’m super conscious about turning off all electrical items and unplug as many things from the mains electrical supply wherever possible. I used to despair at the idea of obviously not only losing my home in such a way, but my memories such as my photos etc. Luckily, these days we have the cloud where our photographs can be backed up and available at the ease of a log in. I just found this story however about a guy, that took an incredibly stupid risk, just to save his Xbox!

Normally, whenever a house or place is on fire, the first thing which we are all supposed to do is to run out from there without taking into consideration any of our personal belongings that are left within. It makes perfect sense – material items can always be purchased or replaced, but can you really bring someone back from the dead, or to raise yourself from the nether world?

Now I know that these consoles can be a huge part of someones life, but really is it worth that risk? Did he think that he was actually part of a game, where he was invincible and he’d get an infinite amount of lives just by pressing the re-start button? I’m afraid the old school arcade “GAME OVER” was a possibility of flashing up on the screen in this situation.

I know perhaps this video states the obvious, but I think sometimes we need to be reminded of the obvious!

Now that we are relying more and more on technology, and introducing more electrical items into our homes, I think it’s good to have a recap sometimes about how to keep safe.  I don’t mean to be preachy in this post, just reading that article made me stop and think. Take precautions and be safe everyone.
